The exciting thing about being in this industry is that it is always evolving. Technology changes, Methods change and most importantly, Style changes. The one thing we always have on the back of our mind is, "is this sustainable for tomorrow, and if not, can we grow with the future?" At Smoking Mouse, we pride ourselves with keeping in the know of what's to come. We are consistantly researching, and occasionally setting new trends.
Learning from our past
There's an old saying that goes, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks..." We've been in this particular market for ten years now and the one thing we've learned is that good design relies on a solid foundation. It's like building a custom home. You draw up plans, lay the groundwork, then you pour the concrete. The foundation of Smoking Mouse was formed several years ago when I decided that putting pen to paper would allow me to express my creative side in a way that everyone could understand. It's all about what the client wants and how we can deliver that vision. We are old dogs who still use the same old tricks...some things just never go out of style.
Presenting in the present
So how do we do it? We take what we've learned in the past, mix it with a little of what's to come, and present your vision with what's happening now. This is why we pay such close attention to current trends in the market. Branding, Marketing and Graphic Design are not like fashion. We don't anticipate polyester bellbottoms to come back in style anytime soon, so why should your campaign look and work like it was designed DOS Basic? (That joke kills in the programming and design world!)
